Navi Mumbai Online Gaming Scam Shows How Fake Betting Apps Build Trust

Home » Navi Mumbai Online Gaming Scam Shows How Fake Betting Apps Build Trust

A fresh Navi Mumbai cyber police case shows why users should be careful with betting app links that first allow small withdrawals and then push larger transfers. The Times of India reported on June 11, 2026 that a 25-year-old auto-rickshaw driver from Ulwe allegedly lost about Rs 1.3 crore after placing bets through an online gaming platform.

Hindustan Times separately reported on June 12, 2026 that the complainant was drawn into games such as Teen Patti, casino and other betting activities, with early withdrawals helping the platform look genuine. That pattern matters for rummy, casino and cricket-gaming searches because fake apps often borrow the language of familiar card games while operating outside recognised app-store or brand channels.

What police say happened

According to the Times of India report, the complainant registered on a website linked to an online gaming platform identified as KheloStar. Police said he was initially able to withdraw some profit, which built trust before larger transfers followed.

The report says the money was moved between March 2024 and April 2026, after the driver sold a Cidco-allotted PAP plot. When he could not withdraw the displayed profit, he approached Navi Mumbai cyber police. An FIR was registered against an unidentified group connected to the platform, customer-care handling, the app link and bank accounts used for transfers.

Why the trust pattern is dangerous

The case is a reminder that a working login screen, displayed profit balance or early payout does not prove a gaming platform is safe. Fraudulent products can use small withdrawals to make users believe larger deposits are recoverable.

  • Early withdrawals can be bait, not proof of a legitimate game.
  • Large transfers to changing bank accounts are a serious warning sign.
  • Customer-care pressure to add more money before withdrawal is not normal app support.
  • Private links for Teen Patti, casino, cricket betting or rummy should not be treated like official app listings.

What users should check now

If a gaming or betting platform asks you to transfer money outside a recognised app-store payment flow, slow down. Check the brand’s official website, current app-store listing, withdrawal terms, support channel and whether the product is clearly free-play or money-staked.

Anyone who has already lost money to a digital gaming or betting link should report quickly through official channels. India’s I4C page points users to the National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal and the 1930 helpline for cyber financial fraud reporting.
