Durg Police Raid Alleged Winbuzz Cricket Betting Network

Home » Durg Police Raid Alleged Winbuzz Cricket Betting Network

Durg Police say they arrested two people on November 2, 2026 after a raid on an alleged online cricket-betting operation said to be using the Winbuzz app. Local reports said officers seized ₹4.93 lakh in cash, three laptops, an iPad, 18 phones, 22 ATM cards, 10 passbooks and QR-code scanners from the premises near Rungta College.

The allegations are under investigation. The report identifies a further person as an alleged main accused who had not been arrested at the time of publication, so the case should not be read as a final determination against any person or app.

What Durg Police reportedly found

According to the local police account carried by CGNews Online, the raid involved the Smritinagar outpost, Supela Police Station and Durg’s Anti-Crime and Cyber Unit. Two men were arrested, while police said they were examining the use of several bank accounts, cards and digital devices in the alleged operation.

The case was registered under Section 7 of the Chhattisgarh Gambling (Prohibition) Act and provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita cited in the report. Investigators were still looking for other alleged participants.

Why the bank-card detail matters

Betting networks frequently rely on accounts, cards and QR codes that do not match the name used in an advert or chat message. A payment request to a personal UPI ID, a changing QR code, or a request to lend an account or SIM are serious warning signs. A betting balance shown on a screen is not proof that money is protected or can be withdrawn.

The current national rules prohibit online money games and payment facilitation for them. That is different from a free cricket game or a non-cash fan activity. Read our online gaming rules guide for the category differences, and our fantasy cricket APK safety guide for app-install checks.

How to respond to a suspicious cricket-app payment request

  • Do not transfer money to a personal UPI ID supplied by an agent or WhatsApp group.
  • Do not rent out a bank account, ATM card, passbook or SIM for a “commission”.
  • Never share an OTP, UPI PIN, card PIN or screen-sharing access.
  • Save payment references and chat records, then report suspected cyber fraud promptly through the official portal.
