ED Arrests Vikas Garg in Mahadev-Skyexchange Betting Case

Home » ED Arrests Vikas Garg in Mahadev-Skyexchange Betting Case

The Enforcement Directorate has confirmed another major step in the Mahadev Online Book and Skyexchange investigation. ED’s latest news update says Vikas Garg was arrested in New Delhi on July 14, 2026 under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act and later remanded to ED custody until July 24, 2026.

The update keeps the Mahadev-Skyexchange case in focus for anyone following cricket betting, online gaming enforcement and deposit-led app risks in India. It is an enforcement story, not a rummy product launch or a fantasy-sports comeback signal.

What ED and reports say happened

ED said Garg was produced before the Special Court under PMLA in New Delhi for transit remand, then before the Special PMLA Court in Raipur on July 15. The agency also said movable and immovable properties worth about Rs 4,000 crore, including foreign assets, have been attached, seized or frozen so far in the case.

Economic Times reported on July 15 that Garg is chairman of the Ebix group and that the arrest followed ED’s earlier attachment of Rs 940.77 crore in assets linked to Garg, family members and controlled entities. The report said the agency’s case is that betting proceeds were routed through layered companies and investments.

Why the case matters for cricket gaming users

Mahadev Online Book and Skyexchange are not ordinary app-store fantasy products. ED has described the network as an illegal betting operation using overseas-controlled panel systems, layered financial routes and assets allegedly connected to betting proceeds.

That distinction matters because users often reach the same search zone through cricket keywords. A person looking for fantasy cricket, match prediction, rummy alternatives or sports gaming apps can run into agent-led betting IDs that use familiar sports language but operate very differently from transparent official apps.

  • Private betting IDs, Telegram links and agent deposits carry higher risk than official store listings.
  • Large enforcement actions can affect bank accounts, documents and withdrawal claims long after a user deposits.
  • Old brand-search habits should not be treated as a shortcut around current gaming law.
  • Any “guaranteed cricket earning” claim needs current official proof, not a forwarded screenshot.

What users should watch next

The next date to watch is July 24, 2026, when the current custody period cited by ED is due to run. Further court orders, remand changes or fresh attachments would be enforcement updates, not proof that legal gaming products have changed.
