Karnataka’s Cyber Command has moved from blocking individual betting links to putting web-hosting companies on notice. The Indian Express reported on June 3, 2026 that the state cyber unit wrote to 127 hosting agencies while tracking gambling websites, mirror domains and new betting platforms that appeared around the IPL final.

What changed
According to the report, the Karnataka State Cyber Command said it worked with 37 internet service providers to block several betting websites and URLs within five days before the IPL final. Officials described a three-phase plan: block known betting URLs, engage hosting agencies and intermediaries, then follow the money trail behind the networks.
The same report said the wider coordinated enforcement effort followed the blocking of 8,750 betting applications and websites nationwide. Karnataka officials also pointed to mirror domains, which let betting syndicates move users to a new web address while keeping similar logins, account flows and branding.
Why mirror URLs matter to players
Mirror sites are risky because they make a platform look alive even after the original domain has been blocked or reported. For users, the practical point is simple: the old distinction between “skill game” and “betting link” is not enough to make a money-staked product safe. If the product asks for deposits, routes payments outside trusted channels, or keeps shifting domains, the risk is enforcement, fraud, or both.
