The Free Fire India download is officially live on Android and iOS from October 28, 2026. Garena has released the India-specific standalone app after confirming the date in an announcement published the previous day.
The launch matters beyond battle royale fans. It is a high-profile example of a gaming brand returning to India with local content, parental consent requirements, playtime controls and spending limits built into the product. Players should use Garena’s official links rather than an APK mirror or a message shared by an unknown account.
Where to download Free Fire India
Garena says Free Fire India is available free through Google Play and Apple’s App Store. The Android listing uses the package name com.garena.game.ffi. If the install button is not visible immediately, check the publisher and package details instead of downloading a lookalike file from another website.
The India app is separate from Free Fire MAX. It includes locally themed events and campaigns, including a Diwali campaign scheduled to run until November 15, 2026. Garena also says the app has been optimised for a broad range of smartphones.
Safety and spending features
Free Fire India is free to install, but its official FAQ confirms that players can buy diamonds with real money and use them for in-game characters and items. That makes the spending controls worth checking before play begins.
- Players under 18 need parental consent to register.
- The game includes regular break reminders and playtime limits.
- Garena lists spending caps among its responsible-play features.
- Parents can use the game’s controls alongside device-level purchase approval.
These purchases are for in-game content. Garena’s launch material does not describe the app as a cash game, betting product or paid fantasy contest. Anyone promising withdrawals, guaranteed earnings or paid “Free Fire investment” plans is describing something outside the official product.
How to avoid fake Free Fire India APKs
A major app launch attracts copied logos, unofficial download buttons and fake reward pages. Before installing, verify that the link comes from Garena’s India website or leads directly to the official app store listing.
- Do not install an APK sent through Telegram, WhatsApp or a short link.
- Never share an OTP, card PIN or screen-control access with someone offering free diamonds.
- Check the app permissions and publisher name before opening the game.
- Ignore agents who ask for a UPI transfer to “activate” the free download.
The same checks apply across Indian gaming apps. Our safe APK installation guide explains how to spot risky mirrors, while the Google Play Arena update covers another free-entry mobile competition. What happens next
Garena says it plans to support Indian esports through grassroots, collegiate and international pathways, but the launch announcement does not provide a new tournament calendar. Players should treat event dates, prize pools and roster claims as unconfirmed until they appear on an official Garena channel.
