Google Play Arena India is open for registration, bringing six mobile games into one free-entry championship. Google announced the event on October 23, 2026 with NODWIN Gaming, five established esports organisations and a new club linked to former India captain MS Dhoni.
For cricket-game players, the standout title is Real Cricket. The wider lineup also includes BGMI, Free Fire MAX, Moba Legends: 5v5!, Chess.com and EA SPORTS FC Mobile. Google says entry is free, there are no pay-to-play mechanics, and applicants must be at least 18.
How Google Play Arena works
Players enter through open online qualifiers, with top performers earning a chance to represent one of six clubs at the Grand Finale in December 2026. The established clubs are Team S8UL, GodLike Esports, Orangutan Gaming, Revenant XSpark and Team Apex Gaming.
The sixth club is Mahi Clutchers, backed by Dhoni and built through the qualifier route rather than an announced professional roster. Registration does not guarantee a club place; players still need to qualify under the rules for their chosen game.
Why Real Cricket is in the lineup
Real Cricket gives the competition a direct bridge between India’s cricket audience and mobile esports. It is a simulation game, not a paid fantasy contest: players control the match on screen rather than selecting a fantasy team whose score depends on a live fixture.
That difference matters in the current market. Since India’s central rules took effect in May 2026, many familiar fantasy and rummy searches have shifted toward free games, sports content, watch-alongs and skill-led esports. Google is presenting Play Arena as a merit-based competition without an entry fee or pay-to-play element.
What players should check before registering
- Use the official Google Play registration route and read the game-specific eligibility rules.
- Confirm the required device, account region, team size and qualifier schedule before entering.
- Do not pay an agent who promises a roster place or access to Dhoni’s club.
- Follow official updates for the final schedule rather than relying on social-media prize or venue claims.
Google’s launch post confirms free registration, the six titles, the six clubs and a December final. It does not announce a prize pool, so posts quoting a cash figure should not be treated as official unless Google or NODWIN publishes it.
What this signals for cricket gaming
The event shows how cricket-led gaming is broadening beyond paid fantasy contests. A recognisable cricket figure can bring an audience into a multi-title competition, while Real Cricket gives mobile players a familiar sports entry point alongside shooters, football, chess and a MOBA.
