Google Play Says India Rummy and DFS Pilot Grace Period Is Over

Home » Google Play Says India Rummy and DFS Pilot Grace Period Is Over

Google Play’s current developer guidance gives rummy and daily fantasy sports users a cleaner baseline for checking Indian app listings. The Play Console Help page, effective June 4, 2026, says there are currently no active real-money gaming pilots on Google Play and that India’s DFS and rummy pilot grace period is no longer in effect.

The India-specific line matters because many old search results still point users toward rummy, fantasy cricket, cash contests, APK downloads and withdrawal pages as if the pre-ban app-store environment is still running. It is not that simple in 2026.

What Google Play says changed

Google says the India pilot for DFS and rummy apps ended on September 28, 2023. Apps from that pilot were given a grace period, but the help page now says that from January 22, 2026, those apps can stay on Google Play in India only if they remove real-money functionality and comply with Play’s real-money gambling, games and contests policy.

That does not mean every visible rummy or fantasy listing is automatically illegal or safe. It means users should read the current store text, content rating, payment prompts and official brand notices before assuming that an old cash-game flow is available.

Why rummy and fantasy users should check listings carefully

RummyCircle’s Google Play page still presents the app as an Indian rummy product and shows an 18+ rating with a real gambling or paid competitions label. A23 Rummy’s Google Play page also uses rummy, free-practice and real-game language while showing an 18+ real gambling or paid competitions label.

Those labels are useful signals, but they are not the whole compliance story. A user searching from India should treat a Google Play listing as one checkpoint, not as proof that deposits, cash tables, paid leagues or withdrawals are currently available in the same way they were before the 2025 law and 2026 rules.

  • Check whether the app page talks about free play, contests, rewards or cash separately.
  • Do not rely on old APK pages that promise deposits or cash withdrawals without current official confirmation.
  • Be cautious when a third-party site uses a real brand name but sends users to a mirror domain or private download.
  • For fantasy cricket, distinguish free leagues, watch-along features and paid-entry contests.

What this means for app comparison searches

The main SEO takeaway is practical: searches such as “rummy app download”, “RummyCircle cash game”, “A23 real rummy” and “fantasy cricket app India” now need a 2026 compliance check. Users are not only comparing game formats; they are checking whether a product is free, social, store-listed, blocked, withdrawal-only or still using old money-game language.
