Rummy is a general name to complete family of cards / tiles games, based on creating melds. Some saying that Rummy game born back in Mexico and part of the popular Mexican game – Conquian, the father of all Rummy games versions.

The main goal in this Rummy game is to be the first player who gets rid of the cards in the hand by creating melds of sets and runs.

Few basic moves that is better to know about Rummy game:
The deck – some of Rummy versions played with one deck of cards (52 cards) and some versions played with 2 decks of cards (104 cards).
The cards: Ace, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, Jack, Queen, King, Joker.
Deal – here again, depends on which version and how many players participate. For example in Gin Rummy game when it’s 2 players so each one of them gets 10 cards and if it’s 3-4 players so every player gets 7 cards each.
In Kalooki 51 every player gets 14 cards. After dealing, all the rest of the cards become the stock pile with face down, while the top card is the opening card and with the face up.
The players start creating the melds in their hands.
The goal of Rummy game – in general, in all Rummy versions the first goal is to get rid of the cards in your hand by creating melds of runs and sets. There are 3 ways you can get rid of cards:
1. Creating runs and sets and meld the on the table – you got a match cards? Don’t wait and meld it on the table.
2. Adding cards to existing melds – you have cards that can fit to existing melds? It’s time to get rid of them. For example: if there’s a meld of 3-4-5 in Heart shape and you got the card 6 Heart, so it’s a good chance to use it.
3. Discarding card – in the end of every round you have to discard 1 card to the discarding pile.
Rummy game process – every turn made of few moves you can do, some of the moves have to be done:
1. Drawing card – in the beginning of every turn, you have to draw a card if from the stock pile or if from the discarding pile – you have to make this move in every turn.
2. Creating melds – after drawing a card you have the chance to meld runs and sets on the table. In this move you have the chance to decide if those in this turn or later on during the game do. But you have to remember that there’s a chance someone else can win the game and you will not have the chance to meld your cards, and you will get more bad points.
3. Adding cards – another move you can choose if to do it in the same turn or to wait with that during the game for adding cards to existing melds.
4. Discarding card – in the end of every turn you have to discard 1 card to the discarding pile – you have to make this move in every turn.
If the stocks pile over, you have to shuffle the discarding pile and made it to the stock pile, continue from the same turn you stopped.
Points – when someone win, you need to count the points to all the others, every card have different value: Jack, Queen and King worth 10 points each. Ace worth 1 or 11 depend on the Rummy version you play, all the rest worth their own value, for example: 6 worth 6, 9 worth 9 points and so on.
